To the members of the Great Lakes Marinette Club and friends in the Marinette boating community:
It is time for a change in the leadership of the Great Lakes Marinette Club. The current President, has been involved in the GLMC since 2010. He has handled the website, assisted at the Rendezvous and led the club as President since 2016. Nancy Plosker, current Treasurer and Membership Chair, has held her post since 2008. Both of these individuals have served the club faithfully and worked hard for a very long time. They both desire to step down from their current positions – Craig for sure, and Nancy possibly.
We need your help! The time commitment is not as bad as you might think. The club only holds one function a year, so the time leading up to the Rendezvous is usually busier. Off boating season is minimal. Anyone who has a desire to get involved and help run the club should please email greatlakesmarinetteclub@gmail.com. If you have questions about the specific responsibilities or time commitments, we are happy to discuss and answer them for you.
In the event we are unable to find anyone to help out as a new president the Club, it may be forced to cease operations. If the Club continues, but no one is ENTHUSIASTIC to take over Membership/Treasurer (which really should be one person not two), Nancy has indicated that she is willing to continue in that position – at least through the end of 2022. We hope to hear from some of you within the next month or two about at the presidential position (as Craig will definitely step down right after the Rendezvous this year, and we thank you in advance for your consideration of the matter).
Rendezvous Update
This year the Rendezvous will be held at Huron Boat Basin on July 22-24. We have held it at Sandusky Yacht Club for the past three years, but unfortunately SYC is full to capacity and can no longer accommodate us. It’s been a while since we have been at Huron, and it’s going to be a lot of fun because it’s Christmas in July at HBB. Mark your calendar and more updates to follow.
